This Town Hall Meeting, hosted by the Redwood Empire District, is being held to get your input on issues of vital importance to your profession. Dennis Langton, PT will discuss payment issues and updates such as changes in Medicare, PT evaluation codes, bundled payments and the impact of Third Party Administrators on the payment and practice of physical therapy. Chris Reed, PT, MPT, ATC, OCS will cover important bills in the legislature that may have an impact on physical therapy. Bring your questions about any physical therapy topic. We encourage all physical therapy professionals to attend.

Course Objectives:

Following this meeting, the participant will be able to:

  • Learn about bills in the legislature that may have an affect on physical therapist practice
  • Learn how to best position yourself for participation in bundled payment models
  • Become familiar with the use of the new physical therapy evaluation codes
  • Understand the impact of Third Party Administrators on the payment and practice of physical therapy
  • Learn about changes and updates in Medicare

Chris Reed, PT, MPT, ATC, OCS is an outpatient orthopedic physical therapist with Agile Physical Therapy in Palo Alto, CA. He graduated with a BS in Exercise and Sports Sciences from Oregon State University in 1998 and received his Masters of Physical Therapy from Mount Saint Mary’s College in 2000. Chris has been an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist since 2006. He has served in leadership roles with multiple organizations, including CPTA, throughout his career. Currently Chris is the Chair of the Government Affairs Committee, and a Trustee of the CAL-PT-PAC.

Dennis Langton, PT received his B.S. degree in Health Education and Physical Therapy in 1973 from the University of Utah. His post graduate studies include a wide variety of advanced clinical courses in the areas of Manual Therapy, Sports Medicine, Neurology, Craniomandibular Disorders, and Work Rehabilitation and he is a Certified Cranial Vertebral and TMJ Specialist by the American Academy of Oral-Facial Pain. Mr. Langton has presented over 30 post graduate research papers and taught over 100 post-graduate professional courses, both nationally and internationally, in the areas of orthopedics, manual therapy, orthotics and prevention education. He is presently a consultant in head, neck, and facial pain to the Clinical Research Foundation, an Associate Clinical Instructor at the University of St. Augustine, and an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. Mr. Langton is co-author of a functional anatomy text on the head, neck and temporomandibular joint and contributing author on two textbooks on evaluation and treatment of CMD. He is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Orthopedic, and Health Policy and Administration sections. He has served on the CPTA Board and currently serves on the CPTA Payment Policy Committee.
