Featured Researcher - Spring 2013
Dr. Anne Keil, PT, DPT
"I received the PT fund research grant back in 1991 for my BS in PT research project. It allowed me to conduct research as a student and present a poster "Use of Fluoromethane Spray by PTs in California" at the CPTA conference. I went on to complete my T-DPT in 2005 where I learned how much easier doing research was due to the internet (no more microfiche!).
I currently work as Supervisor of Rehab Services for University of Colorado hospital (Stapleton and Park Meadows Clinics). I presented a poster at both the Colorado APTA conference in 2010 and at CSM 2011 "Trigger Point Dry Needling and Resolution of Methadone use in Chronic Low Back Pain: A Case Report", also I authored an evidence-based textbook "Strap Taping for Sports and Rehabilitation" in 2011 published by Human Kinetics and was a contributing writer for "Athletic Taping and Bracing, 3rd Edition" (2012) by David Perrin.
Research is a daunting process and I am fortunate to work in a university hospital that has a close affiliation with the PT school and faculty who conduct research. Funding is a huge barrier for full time clinicians wanting to do research in their practice, so the CAL-PT-FUND is a great option."
