This Town Hall Meeting, hosted by the Tricounties District, is being held to get your input on issues of vital importance to your profession. Rick Katz, PT, DPT, MA will discuss payment issues including Third Party Administrator legislation and the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). Bring your questions about any physical therapy topic. We encourage all physical therapy professionals to attend.
Dinner will be provided.

This meeting has been approved for .15 CEUs.

Course Objectives

Following this meeting, the participant will be able to:

1. Understand the impact of Third Party Administrators on the payment and practice of physical therapy
2. Learn about the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and how to successfully report.

Richard S. Katz, PT, DPT, MA received a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and obtained his Physical Therapy certification from a combined program at CSUN and UCLA. He went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science from CSUN and his DPT from E.I.M. Institute in 2013. Rick worked as a physical therapist in both hospital and outpatient settings where he developed programs for Cardiac, Pulmonary and Stroke patients along with a Sports Injury Clinic and a Coaches Clinic. In addition he has held numerous elected and appointed positions at the national, state and local levels of the American Physical Therapy Association. He currently serves as Director of the CPTA Board, he is the Chairperson for CPTA’s Payment Policy Committee, member of the Finance Committee and Chairs the APTA Private Practice Section’s Vertical Integration Task Force. He is the recipient of the CPTA’s James McKillip Leadership Award, Clarence Hultgren Service Award and the Charles Magistro Service Award.

Rick works at ATI Physical Therapy as Vice President of Operations and Payer Contracting for the western region. Rick continues to perform direct patient care along with his management responsibilities.



Check in at the front entrance of the hospital; parking next to the hospital off of Patterson. it is not the building on the corner of Hollister, yet the main hospital is beyond with the large windows and circle drive.
