Course Description

In the dynamic world of acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, home health and skilled nursing there have been major revisions of policies regarding the furnishing and reimbursement of physical therapy services. This increased scrutiny has resulted in new policies regarding therapy documentation, assessments, and quality reporting. In this two-hour webinar, industry experts will provide you with an in-depth analysis of the recent changes in Medicare Part A/B rules and regulations and what you can expect in 2015.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify “Red Flags” for potential audits by Medicare Medical Review agencies
  2. Understand the definitions of “Concurrent”, “Co-treatment” and “Group Therapy” for inpatient rehabilitation settings.
  3. Describe the trends in Medicare spending for acute and post-acute care.
  4. Describe “Observation Status” in the acute setting.
  5. Identify 2015 updates in Home Health payment methodology.

Diane Blagojevich, PT is the Rehab Supervisor for Providence Little Company of Mary Home Health. She is a 1990 graduate of CSU, Northridge with a certificate in Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Science, Health Science.  Diane, also, a Bachelor of Arts in Medical Sociology.  She has been in practice for 25 years in a variety of settings with home health being 19 of those years.  She is a member of the APTA Home Health Section and a member of the CPTA Payment Policy Committee. Her current practice includes rehab staff management, competency and program development, patient care, compliance, mentorship in staff shared decision making groups, marketing and IT assistance.


Stephanie Kaplan, PT, DPT, ATP is the Director of Rehabilitation, Administrator of the Transitional Living Center and Director of the Neurologic PT Residency Program at Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation in Pomona, CA. She has been in clinical practice for over 15 years. She is a member of the CPTA Payment Policy Committee and past CPTA Board Member. She is the current Treasurer and Assembly Rep for the SGV District. Her current practice includes clinical care, staff mentorship, program development, and participation in clinical research.


Cam Lippincott, PT is an acute care PT at Torrance Memorial Medical Center.  Cam has practiced in a variety of settings including management for many years.  However her strongest passion and most experience has been in acute care. Cam is currently on the CPTA's Payment Policy Committee and has been involved in the local district for more than 20 years.


Marilyn Washington, PT is a graduate of UC San Francisco, Physical Therapy Program.  Marilyn's current position is Vice President of Rehabilitation Services for Bio-Pacific Therapy currently providing rehabilitation services to Mariner Healthcare's Northern and Southern California Skilled Nursing Facilities.  Marilyn's work experience includes acute, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient, home health, and for the past 15 years, skilled nursing rehabilitation. Marilyn has served as adjunct professor at Mount St. Mary's PT Program, and guest lecturer at USC's PT Program, as well as, Mount St. Mary's PTA Program.  Association activities include former Director and Vice President of the CPTA, and member and Chair of the APTA Minority Affairs Committee
