CEU Approval Applications
As outlined in the Physical Therapy Board of California's (PTBC) Continuing Competency Regulations, all hours used towards license renewal must be taken through a provider that has received approval by a California Recognized Continuing Competency Approving Agency, including the CPTA. View the full regulations on the PTBC website.
If you are providing a continuing education course for physical therapy, professionals, you may be able to offer continuing education units (CEUs) for those participants by applying for CEU Course Approval. Be sure to read the list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) below for any questions you might have regarding the application and/or process.
If you took a continuing education course that was not pre-approved for CEUs, you may be able to secure CEUs for the course by completing the individual. Individual applications can only be submitted after the conclusion of the course or conference. Individual applications will not be accepted prior to the start of a course. Check with the course provider if you are unclear if CEUs have been awarded.
Approved Continuing Education (CE) Program
The California Physical Therapy Association (CPTA) is dedicated to fostering and building a body of evidence-based continuing education courses in California. To assist with this goal, CPTA has established the Approved Continuing Education (CE) Program status for continuing education providers. In addition to reviewing continuing education courses for quality content, this next level in approval evaluates the Program as a whole to ensure a consistent history of providing quality education. These Programs should be viewed as a valuable source for continuing education courses.
