Legislative Hot Topics and Moving Our Profession Forward Through Advocacy Efforts

Program Description
This session will inform attendees about the benefits of membership, review state and federal legislative updates, and discuss how to get involved in advocacy efforts to help move our profession forward.

Program Objectives
Review of how our membership dues are utilized to promote our profession
Summarize state and federal legislation impacting physical therapy
Discuss advocacy efforts and how to get involved

Speaker
Oscar Gallardo, PT, DPT is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy since 2006, newly-elected CPTA Board member, member of CPTA Government Affairs Committee, and APTA Federal Affairs liaison. Dr. Gallardo has been employed at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center since 2003 and is also an Adjunct Instructor of Clinical Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California. Other interests include: community wellness, and local and international physical therapy service and outreach. He is an active member of the California Physical Therapy Association and the American Physical Therapy Association where he has held various appointed and elected positions.

CEU’s: 2 CEU Contact Hours will be awarded
                 Free for APTA members, $30 for Non-Members
